Voluntary Project for the Rural Women Practical Skills Training School

At the initial stage of JERI’s establishment, JERI has been actively engaged in the social voluntary projects, supporting vulnerable groups and carrying out educational volunteer activities. Since March, 2017, JERI has voluntarily been committed to the teaching of Spoken English to one of the Early Childhood Education classes for the Rural Women Practical Skills Training School, with students from the rural area of Guangxi, Hunan provinces, etc.

Located in the Changping District of Beijing and established in October 1998, the Rural Women Practical Skills Training School is a charitable, not-for-profit and non-degree training school that aims to help rural women in China. The funds with which the School operates mainly comes from donations from individuals, institutes, companies, social organizations and foundations home and abroad.

In the “Rural Women Study Grant Programme”, the School provides free training courses, which usually last 1-3 months, to young women from poor rural families who dropped out of school and wanted to learn practical skills to making a living. The courses include computer operation, sewing machine operation, hair-dressing skills, restaurant services, and early childhood care.
